Solar thermal energy has increased its electrical energy production in 2015 to reach a generated power of 5,113 GWh in the accumulated of the year. This figure, 89 GWh higher than the 2014 record, allows solar thermal energy to consolidate its contribution to covering electricity demand in Spain (around 2%), according to data collected and presented by Red Eléctrica de España.
Solar radiation volume recorded between June and August and the experience of accumulated operation has enabled the solar thermal industry achieve these historical figures, which show the evolution and development capacity and the potential of this renewable energy source. For example, during the month of July reached a monthly record of generation of 889 GWh.
